The United States has concluded that Russia knew that Syrian President Assad intended conduct a gas attack ahead of its execution, citing the presence of a Russian surveillance drone above a hospital treating victims of the gas attack. Hours after the drone left the hospital was bombed, in what US officials claim was an attempt to cover up evidence of the gas attack.

Russia and Iran, meanwhile, have called for an “unbiased investigation” into the chemical attack and called the US response on a Syrian airfield an “an act of aggression against a sovereign nation”.

According to a Russian news agency, China has firmly cemented its opposition to the US missile strike, saying that it opposes any use of force in international relations.

A US Navy Admiral has claimed that Russian activity in the waters around Europe haven’t reached this level since the cold war.

Tentative reports claim that China has moved 150,000 troops to the border of North Korea, likely in response to growing US pressure to take action on the regime. According to a Korean news agency the troops are being stationed to deal with potential refugees and “unforeseen circumstances”.

The Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated that the US is willing to work in conjunction with the Chinese to deal with the North Korean threat, but will take action independently if need be. Tillerson added that they don’t intend to remove the regime
