At least 36 people have been killed and as many as 150 have been injured in an attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport. The death toll is likely to rise further.

It has been reported that 3 attackers opened fire with Kalashnikovs on civilians then engaging with police, before finally detonating their explosives. One of the attackers was reportedly tackled by a police officer just before he detonated.

Victims of the attacks were reportedly carried to hospital in taxis

Turkey has been the site of numerous similar bombings by Islamic State and Kurdish militants recently, authorities expect Tuesday’s attack to be claimed by the Islamic State.
