In the wake of an explosion 6 months earlier that killed 173 people in the city of Tianjin, local Chinese authorities plan to move 10 chemical plants. The 10 plants are said to be close to residential areas, though it isn’t known if they are within the legal 1 kilometer of clearance between a plant and a residential area.

According to local media an audit of 583 plants found problems at 85 of them, the 10 that are planned to be moved are among them, another 2 had already begun movement. the remaining 10 are said to be moving 30 kilometers south, within 6 kilometers of another residential zone.
